It depends on quantity. Both methods produce excellent results at Jehajo — the question is cost and speed.
Digital printing (HP Indigo)
- No printing plates, so set-up is minimal.
- Best for short runs, urgent jobs and personalised items (names, numbers, variable data).
- Unit cost stays roughly the same whatever the quantity.
Litho printing (sheet-fed and web)
- Plates are made first, which costs time and money up front.
- Once running, each extra copy is very cheap — so unit cost falls sharply as quantities rise.
- Ideal for long runs, Pantone colours and special papers.
The crossover point
For many jobs, digital is cheaper up to a few hundred or a few thousand copies, and litho becomes cheaper beyond that. The exact point depends on size, paper, colours and finishing — so tell us your quantity and we will quote the most economical method.
